Cona with the sound walk 2 Walk on Pixxelpoint festival

Zavod Cona has in recent years esthablished the form of sound walks in Slovenia thought it’s own productions and works by Brane Zorman and Irena Pivka. Soundwalks are by now well esthablished form in sound art practices, that was firstly created by R. Murray Scahefer in the field of sound research throught his conception of soundscape. Sound mapping and search for archetypical sound points in the soundscapes was later replaced by more artistic apporaches by Christina Kubisch, Akio Suzuki, Janet Cardiff and many others in the field of sound art. Sound walks have with a use of different choosen routes, maps, technologies, interfaces and narratives become a point, throught which urban and rural landscape and soundscape inscribe itself into varous artistic concepts or into the field of sound ecology. They demand interactive and participatory approach. Since 2012 have Zorman and Pivka created couple of them: Transmit Walk, razstavo OdzivNa mesta/Response Sound Maps/Walk, Walk The City and Field Frequency Flux.

In the framework of this year’s edition of the Pixxelpoint festival in Nova Gorica and in cooperation with the City Gallery Nova Gorica, they will present an intermedia sound walk Hodi.Ti/2 Walk, which alters the space through a pre-created sonic narrative, through which establishes dislocations between current and mediated, between real and fictitious. Or as the authors have  said about the work: “2 WALK is a locational multimedia performance taking place on city streets. It is designed as a sound walk, which the spectator takes on a pre-delineated path and follows it by means of a mobile app and headphones. With the help of sound images, imprinted into the location of the delineated path, she or he traverses between fictive and real situations. The performance intertwines narration and sound with space and path, and offers it thoroughly as experience. The sound image was made at the edges of the Ljubljanica River, taped by binaural and studio microphones.”

Sound walk is happening on 20 September at 16.00, and at 17.00 you can enjoy a presentation of the project and a presentation of multisensory headphones UHEL/CANS.
