New digital release by Marko Karlovčec, John Dikeman, Vid Drašler and Aleksandar Škorić

Serbian drummer Aleksandar Škorić has released a new recording on his Bandbamp site of his quartet with Slovenian alto and soprano saxophonist Marko Karlovčec, American tenor saxophonist John Dikeman, and Slovenian drummer Vid Drašler. The material of the album entitled Sifat was recorded live at the quartet’s concert at the old train station in Vrhnika as part of Rojišče, a concert series of free improvised music, on 23 April 2018. It is a quartet of two fierce saxophonists and two powerful drummers that together created heated exchanges of staggering and ecstatic multiphonics and energetic polyrhythms.

Listen and order the recording here:

Aleksandar Škorić and John Dikeman are playing together in different line-ups in the Netherlands where they both reside, while Karlovčec and Drašler are playing together in Slovenia’s finest free jazz / free improv group, DKD Trio. This music is rough, powerful, highly physical and emotional as well in the best tradition of the continuation of free jazz lineage.
